N.O.O.B Tube: Tomb Raider Remastered- Greece

Release the lions! And the monkeys! And if they weren't enough, let's have the occasional gunfight with rival hunter DuPont- litterbug extraordinaire!

N.O.O.B Tube: Tomb Raider Remastered- Peru

 

Earlier this month, the first three Tomb Raider games were given the ol' remastered glow and were re-released onto every major modern platform. My knowledge about the series, particularly its protagonist, Lara Croft, has been limited to only recognizing her iconic status and for clips of the Angelina Jolie starred films that my mom would catch on TV from time to time. I did try and play one of the prequel games on my PlayStation 4, but never finished it all the way through.

Because of the remasters, I found myself looking to check out the series once again. And what better way than to play the very first game from all the way back from 1996?

This will be different than my prior coverage, as I will be recording my playthrough of the game along with commentary and observations all the way- uncut and full of death and dumb, dumb mistakes. For the moment, I'm calling these playthroughs N.O.O.B Tube, not only because this is my first time playing this game, N.O.O.B is also short for Nick's Obscure Online Blog. Sometimes you gotta have fun with your titles!

This starts right up at the start of the story, taking Lara to Peru to hunt down an artifact in Qualopec's hidden tomb. I had already played the Lara's Home tutorial to get an idea of the (classic tank) controls, so we won't be heading there.

Also, these remasters also have the option to switch the graphics at any time from the glammed up visuals to what it had looked like back when it came out in 1996. I'll be occasionally switching between the two if I get curious what certain environments or level assets look like. Or if I just feel like it.
